History of san ildefonso college

San Ildefonso College is a distinction of the only Diocesan Catholic Institution in Tanay, Rizal. It motivates and molds the student’s individuality and spiritual life. It is equally dedicated towards the formation of a God-loving person. San Ildefonso College also makes every men and women holistic and competent, empowered by Quality Catholic Education just like what it said in its vision.

San Ildefonso College started in the year of 1918 by Fr. Cornelio de Brower, a Franciscan missionary. He also become the parish priest of Tanay, Rizal up to 1936 but they closed the operation of the school during World War II. Year 1946 when Fr. Edmund Bahl; a young American Columban missionary was assigned in Tanay. With the help Tommy Chema, an aid to the U.S. Navy, they resumed the operation of the school and named it as San Ildefonso High School in July 1947. In the year 1950, a secondary education was offered with the invitation of Fr. Arthur Price, parish priest together with three sisters from St. Paul de Chartres. May 17, in the same year, the arrival of the sisters namely: Sr. Marietta de St. Paul Somera as the Principal, Sr. Mamerta of the Cross Rosero as the teacher and Sr. Dolores as the housekeeper. They also offered Vocational courses and Stenography and Typing.
